Purple Kool Aid!
This show is overshadowed by the night before and the night after. It's a solid show from beginning to end. The band was tight during all 3 shows. Phil was dropping bombs all night. This Jack Straw is one of my favorites! Great versions of Cassidy and China>Rider also!! Microdots floating in Kool Aid. Nuff said...

To reviewer below.....
You nailed it I recall a friend of mine telling me at the Eugene shows how Phil was driving to Boise.... We were all hanging around the lobby of the Hult Center after the final show looking over the ride ahead of us on a map when I was told how Phil will be driving on to the next show. I do know this I thought no waaaaaaaay he is driving to the shows himself. Well I see now I was wrong. very cool story on your behalf. Even if your only referring to Phil's writings. As far as these shows go they were more top notch shows.

I have been reading Phil Lesh's book, "Searching for the Sound", and these shows have an interesting story behind them. Phil was smitten by new love and was driving across the country in a rented car with his future wife, going from show to show. Appearently he had been talking up how magical a Dead show at Red Rocks was so he was determined to give her a great run of concerts! He says he was dropping "bass bombs" all over the place during these shows and I think we can here the estatic joy in his life come through the music! I love his book and Scully's! This website make it possible for us to look up the dates they were talking about and listen to what they were talking about! I LOVE hearing the story behind the music! This is a very decent AUD! Candyman is truly amazing! Maybe one of the best versions of the 80's! Great show and vibe the whole way through this concert! Thanks for the great recording and post!

Beggars can't be choosers when it comes to Red Rocks....
It is tough enough getting a decent soundboard copy of any Red Rocks shows, much less audience recordings of such high quality. And then there is the thunderstorm factor which makes it 50/50 at the show will be a rain out or delay. Nice job capturing a stellar show for band and audience, both. These late summer 1983 shows from out west are incredible.

5 star audience all the way! Great quality
The prevous reviewer does not give an accurate portrayal of the sound quality here. Perhaps my system is better, but off a basic fujitsu laptop I am downloading the kind quality audience here- both 9.7 and 9.8. I already have a sweet sbd of 9.6.
This chinacat is really where it is at, as well as the noodly West La. I have no idea what the previous reviewer is talking about; all I hear is killer dead- all around and when the voices kick in, that is where I was very pleased- right there on the mics, great body and full volume, normalized music.
Chinacat is almost Viola-esque in its intro and jerry does something unique with his licks...download this show and enjoy awesome dead- the best of '83 is in these 3 nights (okay october 11-15th may be a little better for nastolgia), but don't overlook this wonderful suprise and gem!
5 stars folks, its the real deal, for an audience or sbd tape it is excellent quality and I give it my highest recomendaiton- I personally guarantee satisfaction. 6 stars if possible!!!! Also- check the screaming lyrics by JG on rider! Did I mention Jerry's wicked licks on miracle!

This show had great promise. Sound was crisp, Phil was high in the mix, but Bobby's voice and guitar were so distorted, several songs including Rooster, West L.A. and Miracle, were unlistenable. I finally gave up. Too bad.
